Softline Brings Vietnam's Oil & Gas Leaders Together to Advance Operational Safety and OT Security

Ho Chi Minh City, June 19, 2026 — As Vietnam's oil and gas industry accelerates its digital transformation, operators are facing growing pressure to improve operational safety, strengthen cybersecurity, and modernize aging infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted production. To address these priorities, Softline, together with technology partner TrueTech and AI video analytics developer NVI Solutions, hosted a closed-door executive workshop, "Operational Safety for Industrial Facilities," bringing together more than 30 senior executives from Vietnam's leading oil and gas companies.

The workshop focused on practical approaches to improving operational resilience through the integration of artificial intelligence, video analytics, and operational technology (OT) security. Rather than discussing technology in isolation, participants explored how digital solutions can help organizations address evolving regulatory requirements, reduce operational risks, and improve efficiency across industrial facilities.

A recurring theme throughout the discussions was the convergence of operational safety and cybersecurity. As industrial systems become increasingly connected, protecting production environments now requires a combination of physical security, OT cybersecurity, and intelligent monitoring technologies. Participants agreed that organizations are moving away from standalone solutions toward integrated platforms that provide continuous visibility across operations while supporting business continuity.

These priorities reflect broader market trends. According to Softline's analysis, the global AI in oil and gas market, valued at USD 3.1 billion in 2023, is projected to reach USD 7.9 billion by 2030. In Vietnam, demand for AI-powered video analytics is also accelerating, driven by digital transformation initiatives, stricter safety requirements, and increasing investment in industrial modernization.

Regulatory developments are playing an important role in this transition. Requirements introduced through Circular 11/2020, Decree 44/2023, and Vietnam's cybersecurity legislation are encouraging operators to implement continuous monitoring while strengthening protection of Critical Information Infrastructure. At the same time, many facilities continue operating with legacy infrastructure, creating demand for technologies that can integrate with existing industrial systems without disrupting production.

To address these challenges, Softline presented its approach to combining digital transformation, cybersecurity, and industrial technologies within a unified modernization strategy. The company emphasized that successful transformation depends not only on deploying new technologies but also on integrating them with existing operational environments and long-term business objectives.

NVI Solutions showcased its AI-powered video analytics platform designed for hazardous industrial environments, including PPE compliance monitoring, smoke and flame detection, liquid leak identification, restricted-area monitoring, and personnel safety applications. Particular attention was given to the platform's edge-native architecture, which processes video analytics locally, helping operators comply with Vietnam's data localization requirements while reducing bandwidth demands and improving response times.

Participants also highlighted the importance of localized AI models trained for Vietnamese operating conditions. By recognizing local PPE standards, tropical lighting conditions, and site-specific operational environments, these models help reduce false alarms and improve the reliability of automated monitoring.

Another key topic was interoperability. Rather than replacing existing surveillance and operational systems, organizations increasingly require solutions that integrate with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), fire and gas systems, SCADA environments, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems through open APIs. This enables operators to modernize progressively while preserving existing infrastructure.

Operational Technology security was identified as another strategic priority. As IT and OT environments continue to converge, oil and gas companies are adopting internationally recognized frameworks such as IEC 62443 alongside continuous monitoring and Zero Trust principles to strengthen cyber resilience while maintaining safe and reliable operations.

"Vietnam's oil and gas industry is entering a new stage where operational safety, AI, and OT cybersecurity are becoming part of a single business strategy," said the Director of the Southeast Asia Region, International Business Division at Softline. "Organizations are looking beyond individual technologies toward integrated solutions that improve resilience, simplify compliance, and deliver measurable operational value. Bringing together partners with complementary expertise enables us to help customers accelerate that transformation."

By bringing together industry leaders, technology experts, and implementation partners, the workshop provided a platform to exchange practical experience and explore technologies that support the modernization of Vietnam's oil and gas sector. As regulatory requirements evolve and digital transformation accelerates, integrated approaches to operational safety and OT security will play an increasingly important role in helping operators build safer, more efficient, and more resilient industrial operations.
