In its daily activities, Cinepolis global network of cinemas uses multiple IT systems hosted in two cloud environments: Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). For example, more than forty AWS accounts have been deployed in the Amazon Web Services cloud alone. The company's technical staff has created several thousand user accounts on both these cloud platforms and in the local Active Directory. But over time the staff faced inconveniences with the management portals logins. To move from one system to another the staff had to use different accounts and multiple passwords. Besides, they had to provide contractors with access to information resources regularly, strictly observing the access levels.
In an effort to improve the situation, the management of the cinema chain suggested that the IT department organize pass-through access to different portals with a single set of accounts. The company planned to use its on-premises AD and Azure AD credentials, as well as partner and guest accounts to access the management consoles for all AWS subscriptions.
To solve this large-scale task, the management of the cinema network turned to Softline, a global provider of IT solutions and services.
The provider's team prepared a detailed technical solution and developed a backup
plan for returning to the previous scheme in case of force majeure. Due to the professionalism of Softline experts, the project was completed within one month.
Softline specialists provided support for Single Sign-On (SSO), which opened the possibility of accessing AWS management tools for Azure accounts. The solution used SAML authentication and SCIM domain-to-domain authentication protocol.
As a result of the project implementation, each employee of the cinema network got the permission to log in their on-premise environments and two cloud environments using a single account, plus the benefits of SSO. The solution offered by Softline made it much easier for Cinepolis employees to manage their own IT resources.
For those customers who use, for example, Google Cloud, Softline experts can apply similar solutions to integrate with other cloud environments.
"This project was quite unusual. It proved that we are ready to work with solutions from different vendors and combine them for a specific task. Our competence is based on detailed knowledge of various clouds functionality. Now this becomes a global competitive advantage for our team. If a multi-cloud solution is required, customers are likely to give preference to our services. The international status of the project will allow expanding the scope of application of our knowledge and skills", - said Sergey Osherov, System Architect of Support Department, Engineering and Technical Unit of Softline.
