Softline Implements a SAM Project in Etazhi Real Estate Company

Etazhi Real Estate company is one of the real estate market leaders in the Tyumen region. The organization has over 15 years of experience acting as an intermediary in searching tenants and buyers of residential and commercial premises. The company has more than 2.5 thousand employees.

Etazhi has a geographically distributed IT infrastructure in 8 cities of Siberia, which includes more than one thousand PCs, over 100 virtual servers and about 70 local subnets. The corporate top management decided to implement the SAM Baseline project because it wanted to make a comprehensive check of IT infrastructure to optimize its further usage and reduce the support cost.

Softline was chosen to perform the project-related IT tasks, because it implements the full spectrum of works aimed at optimizing the Microsoft software usage and increasing its license compliance.

Software asset inventory was performed with MAP and ITMan utilities. Jointly with the IT personnel of the Etazhi company, Softline experts performed the software audit, assessed the current state of Microsoft software contracts, and compared the number of licenses with the number of actually used software instances. It was revealed that some licenses were used by the corporate legal entities not included into the agreement, following which they were acquired. Furthermore, only a part of the PC fleet was licensed following the Open Value Subscription program — an offer for SMBs.

At the next stage, Softline experts developed recommendations on optimization of licensing costs taking into consideration the specific features of the client’s IT infrastructure. In particular, they suggested the client to consider the Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA) agreement, which allows individual corporate branches and business units create several accounts, purchase necessary software and centralize the IT acquisition process. Softline also performed the assessment following the Asset Management Optimization Model methods, which included interviewing the employees and developing the recommendations on SAM maturity improvement.

“Softline specialists have provided the Etazhi Company with a final report which thoroughly describes the software licensing processes, contains the information about the purchased licenses and the approaches to their efficient utilization. All this will further help the client to reduce the infrastructure maintenance costs and increase the maturity of software asset management processes,” — said Sergei Krutskikh, IT Consultant of Softline Business Consulting Department, Microsoft Certified Professional.

“The inventory project enables the licensing transparency and simplifies the financial planning of software purchases in all geographically distributed branches and business units of our company,” — commented Ilya Anikin, CIO at Etazhi-Tyumen LLC.
